We’re excited to announce that founder Adib Dada will be speaking at the Ecocity World Summit in Abu Dhabi, alongside distinguished speakers such as Dr Paul Downton, H.E. Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, Anthony Mallows… Under the theme of “Ecocities in challenging environments”, his presentation will focus on Biomimicry and its application in the built environment. The ECWS is the longest running international conference series on sustainable cities, commencing in 1990. ECWS 2015 will be the first edition to be held in the Middle East.
Adib Dada will be speaking along Scott Fossel in Biomimicry in the Architecture and Urban Design Session.
The session summary: Nature has wonderful ways to shape living things in order to survive hostile environments, and to organize groups of animals and plants into ecosystems that can thrive. Scientists have been studying these mechanisms and looking for ways to mimic nature’s strategies both at the individual structure level (architecture) and at the aggregate urban planning level. This knowledge is being organized in a new discipline called biomimicry. The Workshop will expose the audience to the basic definitions and strong examples of biomimicry in action.
